I started drinking Kefir this summer. I usually have in in a smoothy (instead of Yogurt) but I've had the Strawberry flavored version straight a few times. Not bad tasting, not as tart as yogurt.

In Holland, each section had a different topping. We were used to the 'everything' pizza that had everything scattered throughout so that everyone could have a taste of everything. In this case, you could only have the toppings that were on the slices you chose.

The FDA requirement relates to the amount of vanilla beans to the amount of liquid used, without saying that the liquid must be mixed with water. But to make vanilla extract you don't want use 100% alcohol so manufacturers dilute it with water. Now for the home cook we simply use vodka, which is distilled alcohol which has already been diluted with water to about 40% alcohol.

You mentioned an alcohol/water mixture above. Should I add water to the alcohol? Why does the FDA require water?
